Another threat to Puget Sound
Recent rollbacks to the Clean Water Act have swept away 30 years of
protections for streams, lakes and wetlands across the country, giving
polluters a free pass to pollute in the streams that feed the lakes and
many of the rivers across our state -- streams and rivers that
eventually lead to the Puget Sound.
It's time to protect Puget Sound, and all of our waterways across
Washington. Join
me
in telling Congress to take action now.
Puget Sound is treasured in our state: It's home to
wildlife, it's a place to enjoy with our families, and it's an asset to
our economy.
Polluters are taking advantage of the loopholes in the Clean Water Act.
Right now, industrial facilities are dumping in our waterways and
paving over our wetlands. This pollution leads right back into the
Sound.
Fortunately, the solution is clear: Congress needs to step up
and finally reverse the rollbacks to the Clean Water Act by passing the
Clean Water Restoration Act this year.
Thanks in part to our research and advocacy, and the
grassroots action of people like you, this bill was introduced and
passed in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
But the wind has been taken out of our sails in the House. We have yet
to see a bill introduced in the House that will restore the Clean Water
Act. We need your help to get Congress to make clean water a
priority. Click the link below to send your message:

Together, we can help restore America's greatest waterways,
including our own Puget Sound, to health. Thanks, as always, for making
it all possible.
