For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf

See the legendary theater piece that inspired Tyler Perry’s recent movie adaptation. Ntozake Shange’s award-winning “choreopoem,” celebrates the difficulties, strengths and triumphs of Black women through a powerful combination of music, poetry and dance. First produced in the 1970s, it was a groundbreaking and controversial expression of Black feminism. We will watch a 2006 production of the play by the Black Theater Ensemble of Columbia University. Everyone welcome!
