Dr. Lawrence Wittner: “How Peace Activists Saved the World.” @SPSCC

College auditorium, Olympia. Free. open to the public.
Dr.
Wittner was, until his recent retirement, a professor at State University of New
York-Albany, and the foremost historian in the world on the nuclear weapons
abolition movement. He’s the author of a definitive scholarly trilogy on the
topic, as well as a condensed single book on it for popular audiences that was
published last year. His basic message – after research through historical
archives of the US and Russia going back 60 years – is that grass roots activism
has consistently had far more impact on elected officials policymakers than the
activists realized at the time. It’s a hugely important (and inspiring) message
that a lot of people could stand to hear these days!

Correction on dates for Lawrence Wittner
Just two corrections regarding Lawrence Wittner's appearences around Puget Sound. The Tacoma event is on Wednesday, September 29th, and the Tacoma event is Thursday, September 30th. All other information above is correct. I confirmed the dates with multiple sources, including Dr. Wittner.
