Journalist attacked by police while documenting Occupy Wall Street protests

Journalist Luke Rudkowski was attacked by police Wednesday night while trying to document the Occupy Wall Street arrests in NY. NYPD used pepper spray, batons, and brute force to move protesters away from the entrance to Wall Street after many tried to push through police barricades. Rumors immediately circulated that police provocateurs dressed as protesters were to blame for the incident.

Snipers shooting demonstrators marks new level of repression in Oaxaca

Oaxaca. February 15, 2011

Felipe Calderon came to visit Oaxaca and brought with him more than 150 uniformed federal police. There were snipers stationed on the rooftops of hotels. There were also several army trucks full of either police or military dressed in civilian clothes. Allegedly, after the clashes finished, these individuals set some cars on fire near the second class bus station in an attempt to lure protesters there to be arrested (and of course also to blame the protesters for the act).

Five years after huricane Katrina, community still trying to find justice for residents

Last friday, three officers were finally indicted by a federal grand jury for the post-katrina murder of Henry Glover, and the ensuing 5 year cover up.

The Murder of Henry Glover:

Henry Glover and his fiance Rolanda Short were residents of New Orleans 4th District when hurricane Katrina struck.

Like many African-Americans in New Orleans, Henry and his family were stranded without any supplies, and with no sign of help.

On the morning of September 2nd, running low on provisions, Henry had taken it upon himself to forage his neighborhood for food, water and charcoal for the couple’s extended family, now staying with them in their small home.

Every

Opium, Rape and the American Way

The warlords we champion in Afghanistan
are as venal, as opposed to the rights of women and basic democratic
freedoms, and as heavily involved in opium trafficking as the Taliban.
The moral lines we draw between us and our adversaries are fictional.
The uplifting narratives used to justify the war in Afghanistan are
pathetic attempts to redeem acts of senseless brutality. War cannot be

Honduras Update 10/22/09: Day 117 of the Coup

Action Alert from IFCO/Pastors for Peace on behalf of the National Resistance Front Against the Coup in Honduras:
“DIALOGUE” IS AT A STALEMATE; REPRESSION CONTINUES;
SEND POSTCARDS TO OBAMA!

1) Since October 7 a misleading process of “dialogue” has taken place
in Honduras between the illegal coup forces and representatives of
President Zelaya and the Resistance Front. The coup government has
tried to use these so-called "negotiations" to delay the return of
democracy while continuing to maintain a state of siege. The
representatives of the National Resistance Front Against the Coup left
the dialogue after it was made clear that the most important issue to
