Oil refinery wildcat enters third day

Strikes at the Lindsey oil refinery in North Lincolshire entered their third day today as talks between business leaders and employees broke down.
The unofficial strike action began at Lindsey Oil Refinery on Saturday as in protest over the loss of 51 jobs, cut by a sub-contractor while another employer on the site was hiring workers.

May 27: In support of the National Day of Protest: The jungle city of Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon (pop. 400,000 aprox.) was on 24 hour General Strike in support of the indigenous struggle. The market was closed, no public transportation, and the schools closed. A few businesses tried to sell to customers with their doors locked. The students from the University carried out picket duty. The riot police injured 13 people with rubber bullets. 18 construction workers demonstrating for the indigenous peoples were arrested together with 2 indians.
Canadian auto-workers occupy factory

A group of disgruntled workers at a recently closed auto parts supply company in Windsor, Ontario have taken over the plant.
In the latest twist in a saga that has been brewing since two auto
plants in the area shut down early last week, about a dozen workers
occupied the Aradco plant Tuesday night. They have welded the doors
shut from the inside and say they will not leave until they get what
they are owed.

Wildcat strikers at a South Korean owned firm returned to work yesterday 11 December gaining promises of improved working conditions.
Thanhniennews.com reported that on Thursday last week, around 1,300 workers gathered in front of Doosan Vina Company office in the Dung Quat Economic Zone in the central Quang Ngai Province to demand proper treatment and payment of allowances.

The wildcat strike of more than 200 workers from a company in the central Quang Ngai Province escalated on Thursday.
Since Thursday morning, around 1,300 South Korean-owned Doosan Vina Company employees, gathered in front of the company office in the Dung Quat Economic Zone to emphasize their demand for proper payment of allowances.
Workers first walked off the job on Monday, saying Doosan Vina had not honored its promise to pay a range of allowances and hand out pay rises to employees once they’d completed four months of service.
German Airbus plants hit by wildcat strike

Staff at three Airbus plants in Germany staged wildcat strikes Thursday over plans by the European jet maker to spin off the factories into a new subsidiary, a company spokesman said.
The work stoppages hit the Varel and Nordenham facilities in northern Germany, coming on the same day as industrial action at a plant in the southern city of Augsburg belonging to the parent company EADS. Airbus sought a court injunction against the strikes in Varel and Nordenham.
The company aims to group the three sites with some 6,000 staff at the
end of the year in the new EADS unit Premium Aerotec. The works council
has called the terms of the deal for employees "unacceptable". The
Taxi drivers strike in central China

Thousands of taxi drivers took to the streets in the city of Chongqing earlier this week for improved conditions.
The strike, which began on Monday, saw 9,000 of Chongqing's taxis taken out of service as drivers protested over conditions; including high fees charged by their companies, unfair
competition from unlicensed cabs, and a shortage of fuel.

Some 2,000 workers at two foreign-owned companies have gone on strike, demanding better pay and allowances, company and union officials said Friday.
More than 1,400 workers at Valley View Vietnam, a Taiwanese-owned garment company based in the central city of Danang, have been on strike since Thursday, demanding a monthly petrol allowance of 100,000 dong (6 dollars) and an increase in their daily meal allowance.
