Media Island International still open

despite previous post media island is not closed

Someone posted that Media Island was closing to fix the stairs etc. Whoever it was is anonymous but somehow posted in my name. If this person wants to propose closing Media Island they should bring it to a meeting. If people feel there are safety issues they also can bring this up at a meeting. The stairs are not open to the public and caretakers have every opportunity to not choose the position if the stairs, which are not that bad, are an issue to them. The issue of the electricity has been brought up despite the fact that all electrical problems have been resolved, which required tearing up the upstairs floor.
If the issue of the transmitter location is of concern to someone they are welcome to come to a Monday night meeting to talk to us about it. There are good reasons why we can't "just" move the transmitter. At 3 watts where it is the station is at least transmitting, as required by the FCC, until resources can be found to use our off grid site. This decision was made by the KOWA group meetings when we were no longer able to sustain the station off grid without solar and wind power or a studio transmitter link.
Frankly, I feel the tone of the anonymous posts is shameful. The poster, in my opinion, has no interest in even learning about, much less helping with, any of these challenges Media Island faces. None of this is anyone's job. Nobody is getting paid at Media Island. Rick is not the boss and has only put his own time and money into keeping this place open for community use.
If someone wants to learn about how Media Island's finances work they are welcome to ask any questions they like. We have our IRS 990's posted downstairs and can produce them for any year requested. All of our financial transactions go through our bank account and are written into our checkbook register. All Checks coming in or out to fiscally sponsored groups are photocopied and filed. If someone wants to donate quickbooks or a similar software that would be cool. People have repeatedly claimed they were going to do this and not come through. As well I would be very happy to work with a friendly and not demanding person who wanted to volunteer the 4 to 6 hours per month it would take to generate regular financial reports.
